mononymously named maximiliano, is an afro-chicanx experimental visual & performance artist working in semiotics, onomatology, the ineffable, the profane, pleasure, Afro-Pessimism, eschaton, mythoi, diaspora, & meaning, as multimedia productions, sculptures, & paintings.
They received their Master of Fine Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art. They recently attended residencies at Iris Project, in Venice, CA, Yucca Valley Material Lab, CA, Centrum, in Port Townsend, WA, and Alembic Residency at Performance Works Northwest, where they debuted ANDROIDS IN THE TOWER, a Regional Arts & Culture Council funded performance & multimedia production. They recently exhibited SENSITIVE CONTENT at Paragon Arts Gallery. They are a professor, mentor, and an Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellow. maximiliano has exhibited, curated, and performed nationally & internationally; with recent works in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and Bergen, Norway.
